The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Intellectual Property Center says Texas is an innovative and creative leader.
In a new report on intellectual property in all 50 states, the center says that in 2007 Texas innovators received 6,228 patents, ranking second in the nation. The state’s $39.5 billion in high-tech exports also ranked second.
“Indeed, Texans are proven innovators,” said Mark Esper, executive president of the chamber center. “The interstate highway system and the computer RAM memory cell are just a few examples of great ideas that originated in the state.”
